On 10-04-97, an HBPD Officer was responding to an Officer Needs Assistance call in the City of Huntington Beach. The back-up Officer was S/B on Beach Blvd, a major street with 4 lanes in each direction, when his Police Vehicle was struck in the right rear quarter panel by a motorist travelling E/B, turning on to Beach Blvd. The Police Vehicle spun 360 degrees several times prior to striking the W/C/L of Beach Blvd. The Police Vehicle then rolled over several times, landing in a storage yard on some ice plant. The Officer driving this vehicle was not wearing a seat belt & was ejected from the vehicle. He was not injured, he landed on the ice plant and returned to work on his next scheduled day on.
